Stephen Fry on Wagner

Stephen Fry on Wagner is a major new arts film for the BBC.

The film is a shorter version of our feature-length film Stephen Fry: Wagner & Me, and was shot on location in Germany, Switzerland and Russia. It follows Stephen Fry on a journey to explore his lifelong passion for Richard Wagner, the world's most controversial composer.

Wavelength Films was granted unique behind-the-scenes access to the Bayreuth Festival, the annual extravaganza of Wagner's music held in a theatre purpose-built by the composer himself. As Stephen immerses himself in the music, he also tackles the many controversies which surround it.  Can he disentangle Wagner's art from its poisonous association with the Nazis?

The feature length-version of the film will be coming soon to cinemas and arts festivals.  Watch this space for more news.
